Pierre Poilievre’s recreational vehicle made a stop in Rivière-du-Loup on Saturday as part of his tour of Quebec. In front of nearly a hundred people, the leader of the Conservative Party of Canada outlined his priorities: solving the housing crisis and lowering taxes.

He was accompanied by the Conservative MP for Montmagny–L’Islet–Kamouraska–Rivière-du-Loup, Bernard Généreux.

Pierre Poilievre insisted on the need to reduce state interventions as well as taxes, for the benefit of the regions. We will give more money to rural municipalities in Quebec and less to big cities like Toronto, Montreal and Vancouverhe promised.

Its solution to the housing crisis lies in the easier issuance of building permits and the reduction of construction taxes. He thus wishes to encourage municipalities to build more housing.

In an interview, Pierre Poilievre also commented on the forest fire situation in the country as fires rage in Eastern Quebec, on the North Shore.

He believes that the provinces should better coordinate their resources to fight fires and he thinks that the federal government should play a more active role. The Conservative leader assures that a possible Conservative government would be compatible with environmental protection.

Pierre Poilievre’s promises regarding the housing crisis, tax reductions for farmers and the ban on certain hunting weapons greatly provoked some citizens of Bas-Saint-Laurent.

Pierre Poilievre hit the road again in his recreational vehicle with his family. Sunday, the Conservative leader, his wife and their children will be in the Charlevoix region for the remainder of this tour.
