Three men from “Eastern countries” convicted of thefts in Cantal

Two individuals admit the facts. One of them is Russian and says he is staying at the Cada (Reception Center for Asylum Seekers) in Limoges, with his two children and his countryside. He indicates that he requested the right to asylum.

Another individual indicates that he arrived in Limoges “to follow one of his friends and to take a walk”. Finally, the driver of the vehicle, aged 40, claimed to be an “undeclared mechanic and homeless”.

The driver didn't know “what was happening”

The first two accomplices admit the acts of theft. The third man says he regrets what happened “if I had known what they were doing, I would have left and left the place”. The latter's lawyer indicates the fact that he “just wanted to follow his friends. He was not aware of the thefts they were going to commit.”

As for the counsel of the two other defendants, she asks to reduce the quantum of the sentences required by the Public Ministry.

The penalties

Ultimately, all three men were found guilty. The driver received a 15-month prison sentence, he remains in detention, and is banned from returning to French territory for 10 years (provisional execution).

Three people filed a civil suit: a couple, who received 2,000 euros in damages for the damage suffered and 5,000 euros for another individual.

The three defendants have 10 days to appeal.
