The storm is brewing in the French countryside. And Isère is no exception to the anger of farmers. Members of the Departmental Federation of Farmers' Unions (FDSEA) have planned a mobilization for Monday, November 18, in the department.
From 3 p.m., several areas of Isère should be affected by filter dams. Farmers will thus occupy a roundabout in the municipalities of Chimilin, Rives, Sablons and Grenoble, and will light hazard lights.
The wind is rising against the free trade treaty
Through this operation, the farmers intend to denounce the signing of a free trade agreement between the European Union and the South American Mercosur countries (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay), which will be discussed, even signed, during the G20 which is being held in Brazil, next Monday and Tuesday.
This agreement would allow, for example, the import of 900 tonnes of beef, raised without respecting European health and environmental standards.
A mobilization in Grenoble
In Grenoble, the mobilization will take place on the Pierre-et-Marie-Curie roundabout, at the end of Avenue de l'Europe.
In Isère, the agricultural union is also planning to replace the signs indicating the names of municipalities, with signs indicating the names of cities in Latin America, like what farmers had already achieved at the end of last year.
