During the last municipal council of the City, Tuesday November 12, 2024, Claude Beauchamp, deputy mayor in charge of the living environment, drew up an inventory of recent projects and opened a broad overview of the major works expected in Parthenay. The opportunity to carry out this vast tour of the owner according to the main projects expected from the end of 2024 to the summer of 2025. Starting with the long-term work, rue Gaston-Niquet and at the old court.

The owner's trick in eight points

The famous wall of rue Gaston-Niquet. This was the real unpleasant surprise of this mandate. The collapse of the retaining wall on rue Gaston-Niquet weakened the place so much that it represented an immediate danger, traffic having been prohibited here since April 6, 2023, also leading to the closure of the pedestrian path which leads to Saint-Niquet. Paul. The studies have since delivered their verdict: it will be necessary to go through work estimated at €385,000. Which begins, with the preparation of the site in the months of November and December 2024, for ten months of construction until the end of summer 2025.

The continuation at the old court. After a first phase of eleven months of roofing and framework work (for €600,000) from spring 2021, just to put this building, owned by the City since 1959, out of water, the second phase of the project is imminent in the The former court of Parthenay, rue de la Citadelle, overlooking the Place de l'Hôtel-de-ville. The beautiful 19th century buildinge century will now host, from this end of the year, the interior fittings work. Offices, meeting rooms and a new municipal council room will require a budget of €495,000. With the fees (€23,000) plus the video, sound and computer equipment (€70,000), we are approaching the same mark of €600,000 as for the first tranche. Completion of the work is estimated for April 2025.

Grippeaux sports hall. At the Grippeaux sports complex, after that of Léo-Lagrange, the sports hall also needed a makeover. With an investment of €380,000, the aim is to redevelop the building and its changing rooms and also work on the roof. Completion of construction planned for June 2025.

Centre technique municipal. This has been necessary for a while. The premises of the municipal technical center on rue Denis-Papin will host redevelopment work, between offices, meeting rooms and changing rooms, for a budget of €168,549 with construction work expected to extend until May 2025.

New cycle paths under study. To ensure a smooth connection between Rue du Sépulcre and Place des Martyrs-de-la-Résistance, via the Pérochon high school and the Léo-Lagrange sports hall, several portions of cycle paths are being studied around a provisional budget of €400,000, with no timetable yet defined.

Among the road construction sites. By the end of this year 2024, a few points of road work are planned from November to December, notably rue de la Chauvelière, boulevard Anatole-, at the SNCF bridge on rue Marcelin-Berthelot and rue Claude-Bernard. All on a budget of €119,704.81.

Place du 11-November. Beyond the blue zones which will once again be materialized on several squares in Parthenay including this one, the renovation of the top of the Place du 11-Novembre is also planned for the end of 2024, for nearly €100,000 of work.

Equipment, too. The City's technical services also benefited from new equipment this year, with the purchase of three utility vehicles for road painting, various events and assistance, for €112,700. And the big bill is expected for the city's next new sweeper, the arrival of which is announced to replace the two old ones: €254,040 for the new machine for cleaning the city's streets.
