Montélimar (Drôme) is more than ever mobilized to raise awareness about this scourge that is violence against women.
On the occasion of International Day, Monday November 25the Drôme town will be the scene of numerous cultural events on this theme, which will take place from November 20 to 30. The highlights will follow one another in the city of Nougat for ten days.
Three Templar films
The Italian Film Festival has made this major social issue the central theme of its 8th edition. Under the theme “Women in Struggle”, it will offer three films specifically dedicated to violence against women, all screened at the Templiers:
- Wednesday 20 November, at 8.30pm: My place is here (Ma place est ici) by Cristiano Bortone and Daniela Porto;
- Sunday, November 24, at 9 p.m., and Monday, November 25, at 6:30 p.m.: Familia by Francesco Costabile;
- Monday, November 25, at 2 p.m.: C'è ancora domani (There's still tomorrow) by Paola Cortellesi.
These films will be preceded by a reading of poems by Maram Al Masri, guest of the festival, in French or Italian, taken from her collection Bare-footed souls.
The theater is also mobilizing
Friday November 22 is at Émile-Loubet theater that will focus three
free appointments (on registration):
- From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., author Dalie Farah will offer a musical reading based on her works;
- From 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., a conference-debate on the journey of victims will be moderated by Maïlys Breteau, lawyer (France Victimes 26), in the presence of Doctor Wagner (obstetrician gynecologist at the GHPP) and Émilie Bouix (marriage counselor and family). With presentations from the victim care and support network (Résavv) and the La Passer'elles association;
- At 8:30 p.m., the show L’Enfer de ma vie will be performed by the troupe La Scène enchantée.
An introduction to self-defense
Exhibitions and discussions will take place on Saturday, November 23, from 4 p.m., at the Montboucher-sur-Jabron village hall, with specialized associations, as well as a self-defense initiation by David Boursaly. Then, at 6 p.m., the film Love and the Forests, directed by Valérie Donzelli, will be screened, followed by a discussion.
Monday November 25 will be the central date of the programming, International day obliges. The municipality's act of commitment on violence against women will be read at 6 p.m., Place de l'Europe, before the Femmes street show offered by the company En Flammes at 6:30 p.m.
Spotlight on feminicides
On the same day, a tribute will be paid to Carole Hoyez in the Nocaze shared garden at 2 p.m. This 38-year-old woman, who lived in the neighborhood, was victim of femicide on September 6, 2021.
This subject will also be covered during of a film debate at the Templiers on Friday, November 29 at 8:30 p.m., with the screening of the short film Tom and Lena followed by the film Thelma and Louise (1991) directed by Ridley Scott.
Finally, the intercommunal media library will offer a gesticulated conference entitled “I should have been called Aïcha”, in partnership with the Mimésis association on Saturday November 30.
