Haut-Rhin: the president of Young Farmers promises a “great mobilization” in Alsace

“Fires of anger” are organized all weekend in Alsace, until the big national demonstration promised on Monday throughout . The president of the JA in Haut-Rhin, Florent Pierrel, does not foresee any blockages at this stage but does not rule out, if necessary, a toughening of the movement.

“The goal for the moment is to show that we are mobilized, if we are not heard we will end up in blockages”. The revolt is being organized, step by step, among the Young Farmers of Haut-Rhin, and everywhere in Alsace, nine months after the previous demonstrations organized, on the back of tractors, throughout France.

The agreement with Mercosur crystallizes anger

Commonly summarized as the “meat for cars” agreement, the free trade treaty with Latin American countries, still under discussion with the European Union, raises fears of the massive importation of beef of Argentinian, Brazilian or Paraguayan origin : “These are products that do not respect our French standards, in ecological and health terms. Bringing your food from the other side of the world when the State has been selling us French sovereignty for two years, it would be time to arrive at a little consistency in actions”, deplores Florent Pierrel.

Farmers are also asking better remuneration for their products, better protection for their animals with the appearance of bluetongue and a simplification of standards in the agricultural world.
