The incident occurred on Route de Veulettes. Firefighters were alerted shortly after 3 a.m. On site, emergency services noted that 4m² of the building had collapsed, on the ground floor. 33 firefighters are mobilized.
The driver of the heavy goods vehicle, trapped in his vehicle, then found himself in an absolute emergency situation. The driver, a 55-year-old man, was finally declared dead by the SMUR doctor.
Two residents of the building who live on the first floor were also treated. Shocked, but not injured, they will not be transported to hospital after an assessment regulated by the SMUR.
Following the accident, the two traffic axes were cut off on the D925 and the D10 and an exclusion perimeter of 15 meters was created. “The intervention continues for analysis of the building structure. The two residents will be rehoused by the town hall,” informs Sdis76 (Seine-Maritime departmental fire and rescue service).
