Thousands of Moroccans took part in demonstrations in several cities after Friday prayers, in solidarity with the Gaza Strip, calling for a commercial boycott of Israel and the Western countries that support it.

According to the Anadolu correspondent, the rallies were organized at the call of the Moroccan Association of Support for the Causes of the Umma (a non-governmental organization) under the slogan: “The conquest of God and victory are near. “

Among the cities which were the scene of these demonstrations are Tinghir, Midelt, Tinejdad, Beni Mellal, Casablanca (north), Taza, Guercif (east) and Berkane (north-east).

The demonstrators held banners supporting the resistance and tenacity of the Palestinian people, chanting slogans such as: “Boycott for the freedom of Palestine” and “Boycott for the sake of the cause”, also calling for a commercial boycott of Israel and Western countries that support them to end the war against Gaza.

Angry, the demonstrators also chanted: “Stop normalization, stop the massacres” and “We are loyal to Palestine and normalization is a betrayal.”

Last December, Morocco and Israel resumed diplomatic relations frozen since 2000, an approach rejected by the popular and political forces of the Kingdom.

Many Moroccan cities, including Rabat, experience almost daily demonstrations of solidarity with the Palestinian people to demand an end to Israeli raids on Gaza, an end to the siege and the delivery of aid.

Since October 7, Israel has been waging a devastating war against Gaza with the absolute support of the United States, causing nearly 123,000 Palestinian deaths and injuries and placing Tel Aviv in international isolation which has led to proceedings before the International Court. of Justice.

Israel continues its war despite two UN Security Council resolutions to immediately stop operations and despite orders from the International Court of Justice to end the invasion of Rafah, take steps to prevent acts of “genocidal” character and improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
