Tuesday June 18, 40 children from schools in priority areas of the City received the diploma recognizing their attendance at the Coup de Pouce clubs organized by the CCAS of Niort. With a bonus reward, a visit from children’s author Christelle Cailleteau.

Tuesday, June 18, children in CP and CE1 from the priority neighborhoods of Niort who participated in the Coup de Pouce CLE (reading and writing) and CLEM (reading, writing and mathematics) clubs were presented with their attendance diploma. This action, led by the CCAS in conjunction with the Coup de Pouce association, is part of the City of Niort’s educational success program and is aimed at children likely to be encouraged in their learning. “ These fundamental lessons should help you become very good students, recalled the mayor of Niort, Jérôme Baloge, and later adults comfortable in society. » These clubs, run by 5 civic service volunteers, require a real effort from the children who benefit from academic support three evenings a week, after school, at a time when their little friends are free to go play or rest.

The meeting with Christelle Cailleteau

Each year, the Coup de Pouce clubs work on 3 youth albums. Among the works presented during the 2023-2024 school year, Helene intrepid princess by Christelle Cailleteau, illustrated by Julie Colombet, has won over young readers. Unable to be free for the closing ceremony, Christelle Cailleteau came to meet them, Thursday June 20, at the Emile-Zola, Jules-Ferry and Jean-Zay schools. “ As a middle school French teacher, I understand the importance of this system that I did not know about. Far too many students arrive in 6e without perfect reading skills,” she notes. This meeting with the children also allowed him to return to the message contained in his work: “I invented this story for my daughters, to tell them that they are as free in their choices and actions as boys. » She salutes the work of the Coup de Pouce association which each year creates specific fun understanding tools for each book selected. An essential educational gateway to attract children who do not have books at home to reading.
