Mr. Righi’s email
Hello Mr Grasset,
I come back to you regarding my email of November 7, 2024, in which I requested the deletion of an erroneous article associating me, wrongly, with the attack against Mr. Samuel Paty.
Not only did you not comply with my request, but you again published an article on November 13 where you relay false and inaccurate information while deliberately continuing to associate my name with this case, its current judgment and in the middle other subjects by analogy, without context or very old.
You also indicate in this article that “I want to remind […] », even though I made no demands in this regard. You also report that I would have mentioned that “this episode continues to have serious consequences on [ma] private and professional life. However, I never used the term “this episode” but rather “your article”, which causes me this serious damage. These distortions of my words are unacceptable.
I remind you that this email is intended for the editor-in-chief, that the secrecy of correspondence is part of respect for private life. The publication of all or part of private exchanges without the consent of the interlocutor is punishable by prosecution. Even more so when its content is diverted for other purposes, notably media.
Furthermore, all of the photos used in your publications are distributed without authorization, constituting a violation of copyright.
I therefore put you on notice to remove these two articles within 48 hours. I inform you that these articles have been the subject of a bailiff's report, and that, given their current public distribution, I will not be satisfied with simple modifications.
In the absence of a response from you, I will be obliged to take legal action via my lawyer, in copy of this e-mail.
The latter could in fact expose you to costs which, I fear, would only worsen the already fragile financial situation of the newspaper.
Sincerely,
Billal RIGHI
