The little rue des Remparts, in the heart of Saintes, dressed up to the nines this Friday, June 21, to welcome the launch of the procedure for obtaining the “City and Crafts” label. Pajade jewelry, created by Adeline Pajot, jewelry designer and expert gemologist, was the welcoming force of this event.
Bruno Drapron, the president of Saintes Grandes Rives, the Agglo, and Sylvie Martin, president of the Chamber of Trades and Crafts of Charente-Maritime, signed a working agreement which, if all goes well, should allow the obtaining the label at the beginning of 2025. In the meantime, it is a question of carrying out a diagnosis, an inventory of all the art artisans in the community territory.
“Cultural and economic wealth”
“It’s an agreement to go further,” said Bruno Drapron, returning to one of the axes of the 2019-2020 municipal campaign which planned to bet on the artistic professions. This label would respond to this reflection with already the possibility that the future third place of the Saint-Louis site will host art workshops.
“There will perhaps be the possibility of doing something later,” Bruno Drapron slipped into his speech. Who would also like to see activities related to health develop there. One does not exclude the other. The specifications are written; the results of the call for applications (and investors) should be known at the start of the school year.

Sylvie Martin, for the Chamber of Trades and Crafts, was delighted with this signature which marks the desire to “create an environment conducive” to the installation of craftsmen, who often decide to settle down home. Where there will also be a question of “cultural and economic wealth” and “transmission”.
At the end of the signings, the guests were able to discover Pajade’s high jewelry designs, exhibited in the workshop boutique on rue des Remparts. Jewelry but also the portrait of King Charles.
