Switzerland will currently pay 10 million francs to the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA). After that of the National, the competent committee of the Council of States approved last month’s decision of the Federal Council, under conditions.

The government made this decision after months of controversy. He specified that this payment was a response to the appeal for humanitarian aid launched by UNRWA. The aid is intended exclusively for Gaza to cover the most urgent needs of the organization, for the period from April to December 2024: food, water, accommodation, primary health care and logistics.

The Foreign Policy Committee of the Council of States supports this proposal, by 7 votes to 5, the Parliament services indicated on Friday. Something must be done to remedy the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza, she said.

A proposal to allocate these 10 million to the ICRC and the World Food Program did not pass.
