Olympic Torch Relay in the Loire on Saturday June 22, 2024.

From July 24 to August 11, 2024, France will host the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

According to ancient tradition, the Olympic Flame is lit using the rays of the sun, during a ceremony in the sanctuary of Olympia, Greece, where the ancient Games took place. The ceremony took place on April 16, 2024. Now lit, the Flame, which left the Peloponnese, boarded the Belem and crossed the Mediterranean Sea. As a prelude to these games, the Olympic Flame will arrive in the Loire on June 22.

On the occasion of the arrival of the flame in the Loire and its relay on June 22 in 7 towns in the department, an exceptional security system will be put in place. More than 1,500 people will be mobilized to ensure the security of the event in the Loire, including internal security forces, the SDIS, volunteers, private security, and approved civil security associations.

In 2024, 11,000 porters will take turns to celebrate the arrival of the Olympic Games in France.

In the Loire, 155 bearers of the Flame will take turns, through two convoys, to the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard, in Saint-Étienne.

Locally, the Ministry of the Interior and Overseas Territories will be represented by a torch bearer.
