It was during the Easter weekend of 2021 that the jewelry store “G lost my needles”, located in the Intermarché de shopping arcade, was robbed. Taking advantage of the three-day closure, the thugs entered the place by cutting up the roof.

And there, they had made off with a large quantity of watches and jewelry, as well as the contents of the cash drawer. The loot included 526 watches, for damage estimated at 200,000 euros. Jewelry which was found a little later, on the border between Slovenia and Hungary.

Still the label from the Dolois store

This is where two brothers of Romanian origin wanted to pass, transporting a wrecked van that they had bought in the north of . Van in which customs officers then found a package containing a large quantity of jewelry, with a total value estimated between 80,000 and 100,000 euros. Without packaging, some still bore the Dolois store label…

Placed under judicial supervision

After a few months behind bars, the two men were released and placed under judicial supervision. Which control was never respected since they evaporated into nature, not respecting any of their obligations. Of course, they were not there this Tuesday, when the Lons-le-Saunier judicial court examined this case. Bogdan Leon, 37, received a 4-year prison sentence and an arrest warrant was issued. Ditto for his younger brother Vlad Ionut Leon, 28 years old, for a three-year prison sentence. Access to French territory will then be prohibited for a decade.

As for the jeweler – who was not equipped with an alarm system and was not insured – he recovered the jewelry that had been stolen from him in July 2023.

In accordance with our editorial charter, the identity of the defendants is revealed for sentences of at least one year in prison with a committal warrant or two years in prison without a committal warrant.
