Seine-et-Marne: a 3-year-old girl falls into the water, her mother tries a desperate gesture to save her but the outcome is terrible

It was a walker, alerted by the cries of a child, who sounded the first alarm. The child, in tears, was alone in a stroller, while in the Loing, a woman and a little girl were floatingunconscious, explains The Parisian.

Emergency services were quickly organized. The police, firefighters and SAMU were sent to the scene and will do everything possible to save this mother and her daughter. The emergency services managed to recover a pulse from the two victims.

A mother's desperate rescue attempt

According to initial investigations, the little girl accidentally fell into the Loing, in a place where the water is not very deep, but where the current can unfortunately be misleading. Her mother, seeing her daughter in difficulty, would have immediately jumped to try to save herunfortunately in vain. This tragic chain of circumstances left the family in mourning, with the father and another child spared from this terrible accident.

The rapid intervention of the emergency services will have indeed made it possible to
remove the two victims from the water by also establishing a security perimeter to facilitate rescue operations. Two helicopters were even mobilized to transfer the victims to hospital in critical condition. But, despite the efforts of medical teams, the little girl and her mother did not survive.

A family supported by an association

Originally from Somalia, this family had lived in Nemours for less than a year and was hosted by the Fraternités association. The mother, aged 33, leaves behind her husband and two other childrenone of whom witnessed the tragedy from his stroller. The father, who was not present at the time of the incident, learned the news after being alerted by the school of the absence of one of his children at the outing.

The mayor of Nemours, Valérie Lacroute, expressed her sadness at this family tragedy. She also emphasized that the place is however secure for a long time and the children do not have direct access to the river from the playground. The causes of the accident, however, remain unclear and an investigation has been opened to determine the exact circumstances.
