the essential
In Ariège, a thin layer of snow fell during the night of Monday 11 to Tuesday 12 November, leading to a yellow snow-ice alert.

The snow fell in Ariège on the night of Monday 11 to Tuesday 12 November 2024. The sites of the Ariège resorts offer a winter spectacle, with at Ax 3 Domaines, the panoramic view of Saquet (2,000 m above sea level), or even the Beille tray, dressed in a thin layer of white gold.

A light snow cover covers the heights of the department, leading to a general drop in temperatures in Ariège. This phenomenon is due to a cold drop affecting the country, thus providing a taste of winter.

Yellow snow-ice warning

Following this sudden drop in temperatures, Ariège, like seven other French departments, is placed on snow-ice yellow vigilance by Météo-.

The Ariège prefecture, on its social networks, indicates that yellow vigilance is in progress and will continue until around midnight. Snowfall is possible overnight from 1,600 m and down to 1,000 m altitude. The authorities warn of the risk of freezing rain and recall the obligation of equipment for travelers going to Andorra via the Puymorens tunnel.
