Nataly Antona died this Tuesday, June 18 at midday following a lung disease. The Ajaccian, in 24th position on Jordan Bardella’s list, elected during the European elections of June 9, was overtaken by illness during the electoral campaign. The first islander to sit in the European Parliament, she entered politics four years ago, joining Marine Le Pen’s party upon the re-foundation of the movement on the island, in November 2021,

It was the start of a late career in politics for this 49-year-old English teacher, married, without children and who was committed to the animal cause. The general public discovered Nataly Antona in 2022, during her first participation in the legislative elections in the first constituency of South Corsica. The Ajaccian came in third position, with 12.7%, 1000 votes behind the autonomist Romain Colonna and exceeding by a single vote the list led by the independentist Jean-Paul Carrolaggi. She was the linchpin with François Filoni in the restructuring of the RN in Corsica, reconnecting national themes with local issues.

Discreet, Nataly Antona did not mention her state of health during the European campaign, which she had spent partly hospitalized. She went to vote on June 9 and spoke after this RN victory
“She was very tired, but fought until the end, she was a beautiful person” reacted François Filoni, regional representative of the national gathering.
