Too small for the growing demand, too dilapidated, no longer within standards, it was imperative to replace the old slaughterhouse in Faou (Finistère).
In 2010, the community of communes of Aulne maritime was committed to the Sivu (Intercommunal Union with a single vocation) of the Faou region in the study for the construction of a new public slaughterhouse in Faou which could take over of the old slaughterhouse.
In 2017 (after the overhaul of the intercommunal map), the Presqu'île de Crozon-Aulne Maritime community of communes (CCPCAM) took over the project. Construction of the new equipment finally began in July. It is an important and expensive project: 14.5 million euros (including 3.2 million euros from the State).
