Will hobbits, trolls and other orcs descend on Échallens? One might believe it at first glance when discovering that the organizers of the first Lights marketwhich will take place from November 15 to 17 in the capital of the Gros-de-Vaud district, are also those of the Arcana festival. This Swiss meeting of fantasy and wonder attracted more than 13,000 visitors to Morges during its 4e edition, from September 13 to 16.
“There may be a few, but it's really not the clientele we are targeting first,” reassures, amused Nathan Schneider, the president of the organizing association. It will be a real traditional craft market, open to all with more than 75 French-speaking exhibitors, including creative workshops and an artists' village. However, we will add a touch of our universe, just to open doors to the worlds of fantasy, dreams and imagination.” As for the name of the market, it was chosen because a special emphasis will be placed on the decorations, and in particular on the lighting.
Attract people from outside
Director ofÉchallens Region TourismGéraldine Regamey welcomed this initiative with open arms: “First, we are super happy to see young people from the region (editor’s note: the Arcana association was founded in Morrens) wish to return to it and animate it in the heart of the month of November, between the Comptoir and the Advent festivities. The notoriety of the festival will attract people from outside, and their initiative consolidates the image that we seek to communicate of a dynamic and innovative region.”
