There were 24 in 2022 for only two constituencies. This time, there will be 15 to present themselves to the anticipated legislative elections of 2024 in the Gers. But they will, for the most part, be the same candidates.

Thus, in the first constituency, the outgoing deputy Jean-René Cazeneuve (Presidential majoritywith Hélène Coomans as substitute) will try to keep her position against Pascal Levieuxpassed from Nupes to New Popular Front with Ann-Abel Hemery.

And the National gathering will once again be represented by Jean-Luc Yelma (with Léa Béraut).

A reconstituted trio in the first constituency

In 2022, the three men finished far ahead in the first round with 31.49% for Jean-René Cazeneuve, 25.44 for Pascal Levieux and 20.42 for Jean-Luc Yelma. In the second, Jean-René Cazeneuve kept his seat by gathering 52.51% of the votes.

In the days to come, the task promises to be complicated for the other candidates who will try to exist. With a change in size though. Two years ago there were seven outsiders. There are only five left to hope for qualification. Not a revolution either.

Reconquest is present

Jean-Louis Chareton (Workers’ Struggle with Tristan Lalanne) is still there. As Aurore Cazes for Reconquest (with Odile Mercier). Even Nadine Larré (Movement for animals) leaves. But this time as a substitute for Ludovic Larré

Otherwise there is the without label Adrien Aymes (with Oulyana Caro), Alexis Boudaud-Anduaga (which brings together several environmental movements independent with Priscilla Maignau).

Taupiac leaves with a clear horizon

In the second constituency, outgoing MP David Taupiac sees its horizon a little clearer than two years ago. Under the label of Socialist Partyagain (with Carole Rolando), he is not officially not a New Popular Front candidate. Except that the New Popular Front, in fact, does not send anyone to face it… Whereas in 2022, it had to face Françoise Dubos (Nupes) to sit in the place of Gisèle Biémouret (PS), in office since 2007 , but who had decided not to run again.

Faced with David Taupiac, therefore, no heavyweight from the left. And no presidential majority candidate neither. Unlike 2022. It was then Maëva Bourcier. She was largely dominated in the second round by collecting only 37.02% of the votes.

The Republicans in the fight with the RN

Alice Cendré (National Rally with David Domingues) will however be there. She finished fourth in 2022 and seems more likely to advance to the second round.

The Republicansabsent from the first constituency, chose the mayor of Vic-Fezensac Barbara Neto for the second (with Serge Cettolo).

And behind, there will not be many people, unlike in 2022, where 14 candidates competed. Michele Martin (already there two years ago) will represent Workers’ Struggle (with Bruno Guéné). Jean-Luc Davezac will fight for Bastir Occitanie (with Solène Rossard) while the without label Abla Lazorat (with Mathias Payet) and Martine Arnaudy (with Bertrand Dellinger) will try to exist.
