Closed since December 1, 2023, the bakery-pastry shop reopens under the name La Mie Germain with Aurore and Éric Parmantier in Saint-Germain-le-Fouilloux (Mayenne). Eric, a baker and pastry chef, has been doing this job for 26 years, while Aurore was a home helper and joined her husband in the bakery five years ago.
The couple arrived from a small village in Saône-et-Loire where they ran a bakery. We are from Lorraine and we were looking to take over a bakery in Brittany or Pays de la Loire
they explain.
“Everything was done in two months”
For his part, Marcel Blanchet, the mayor, was looking for buyers for this business which belongs to the municipality and spoke about it to Léandre Férard, miller responsible for commercial development at the Grands Moulins de Rennes. Everything was done in two months. We visited the premises on April 17 and we open on June 18,”
indicate Aurore and Éric Parmantier. They continue: We fell in love with it during our visit. In addition, we arrive with our three children. And the icing on the cake, an apartment located above the bakery is reserved for the baker and his family.
Possibility of eating on site
The new bakers will notably offer Lorraine specialties (Lorraine pâté and Lorraine quiche), Belgian chocolates, homemade macaroons and sweets and it is possible to eat on site. Éric will be in production while Aurore will be responsible for sales and will give Éric a hand in making the pastries.
