An exhibition at the Eysses Archaeological Museum retracing life in Excisum in antiquity presented during the European Heritage Days.

After the speeches of the mayor, Guillaume Lepers and the president of INRAP (National Institute of Preventive Archaeological Research), reminding everyone that this exhibition restores the landscape and urban environment of Eysses in antiquity, many Villeneuvois were able to browse the museum to contemplate the vestiges of the past and the discoveries made on the Eysses site. “We have found numerous objects belonging to the Gallo-Roman period, such as jewelry, amphorae, coins, oil lamps, among others” says Vanessa Elizagoyen, scientific manager and archaeologist at INRAP since 2002. Vanessa then presents her team who helped her in these excavations and the organization of this exhibition: Alexandra Hanry, archaeologist, Marie Lemaréchal, head of the museum and the historical heritage service at the town hall of Villeneuve-sur-Lot, Melody Félix Sanchez , in charge of inventories and collections at the museum, Gwénaëlle Jousserand, in charge of cultural development, Corinne Dampierre, interregional director of New Aquitaine and overseas at INRAP. Mr. Dominique Garcia is proud of this beautiful, invested team composed entirely of women, invested and courageous.

Excisum, the archaeological museum of Eysses, located 1 quater rue Victor Michaut is now open to the general public, throughout the summer period and until September 1st. For any information, contact the town hall on 05 53 41 53 53 or on the website www.ville-villeneuve-sur-lot.fr
