      Another heat wave is (already) coming to eastern Canada

      Prepare your sunscreen, air conditioner and water bottle. From Tuesday to Thursday, temperatures will rise to a potentially scorching degree in several regions of eastern Canada.

    • Records on the horizon

      For example, Montreal should break its heat record on Tuesday for June 18. Environment Canada predicts that the mercury will reach 35°C, while the record is 33.9°C. Even at night, temperatures are expected to stay above 20°C. Experts also urge vulnerable people such as the elderly and young children to be closely monitored in the coming days.

    • “Heatwaves that occur earlier in the season have more impact on mortality and morbidity than heatwaves that occur later in the season. Our body is not yet accustomed to very high temperatures, especially those who suffer from cardiovascular diseases and respiratory problems. »

    • Solutions to protect yourself from the sun and heat

      • Limit your outings and physical activities during the hottest parts of the day (especially from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
      • Cover your skin when going out
      • Use sunscreen
      • Apply damp cloths to your face, arms and neck several times a day
      • Drink water regularly, without waiting until you are thirsty
    • Some young people are having fun above water jets.

      Several municipalities have decided to bring forward the opening of their municipal swimming pools and water games to allow people to cool off.

    • Beware of heatstroke

      If you experience dizziness or other symptoms of heat-related discomfort, Health Canada recommends that you move to a cool place and drink water quickly. If you experience fainting, confusion, high body temperature and/or incessant sweating, do not hesitate to call 911. Heatstroke is a medical emergency.

    • Hot summer on the horizon

      Environment Canada warns that above-normal temperatures are expected in almost all parts of the country this summer. Ontario, the Maritime provinces and Quebec are expected to be particularly affected.
