Monday, November 4, the municipal council of Taverny (Val-d'Oise) was, as usual, stormy, but a notch significantly higher this time!
The debate around the draft new local urban plan, which had lasted for an hour, continued when, addressing her opponent (Les Écologists) Thomas Cottinet, Florence Portelli recalled the remarks attributed to one of her running mates during of a public meeting during the last electoral campaign:
“I remind you that you wanted to create 100% social housing. She is in the public, she might be able to refresh your memory,” said the mayor (Lr) of Taverny, quoting Sylvie Boulanger by name, who wanted to respond.
“Here, it’s not Nupes”
“No, we do not intervene when we are in the public dear madam, that’s the rule,” explains Florence Portelli.
Before adding:
“I’ll have you expelled if you continue!” This is not Nupes.”
And faced with his refusal to remain silent, the mayor immediately requested his expulsion.
” But no ! Don't expel, we're in a democracy! », then intervenes Thomas Cottinet, the leader of Changeons d’Ère in Taverny.
“It was you who called her out!” », Adds Bilinda Meziani, another elected official from the Changeons d’Ère group.
“These are the internal rules, even for Nupes! », Florence Portelli then justifies herself.
“People have the right to attend the municipal council,” says Thomas Cottinet.
“They have no right to intervene,” corrects the mayor of Taverny. “Yes, they have the right. We’re not in Russia there,” says Thomas Cottinet.
We then hear screams. It's confusing.
The mayor of Taverny then asks to cut all the microphones. A moment of hesitation follows. The council is broadcast in live video on Facebook, but the image remains on Florence Portelli, we do not see the municipal police carrying out the eviction.
“We are dealing with people who have lost all common sense. I repeat, as long as I am mayor, here, it will not be the Lfi! », annoys Florence Portelli.
“And here, it won’t be Trumpism, it won’t be the extreme right. It's democracy. Nah, it’s scandalous honestly,” says Thomas Cottinet in turn.
“And here, it will not be Trumpism”
“We are not in the National Assembly! I find it unacceptable…” continues the mayor of Taverny, who is interrupted because Thomas Cottinet continues to speak.
“That’s enough, Mr. Cottinet!” Now shut up! Mr. Mélenchon bis, you stop! Otherwise I will call you Mélenchon until the end of the term. You respect the fact that I am the mayor and that I police the session,” she tells him.
She then makes a point of order, denouncing “a gutter policy. You are a rude character! “.
“I have never insulted you, Madam,” reacts Thomas Cottinet. In four years, you said here that I was filthy, you called me worthless, a coward, etc.”
Florence Portelli tells him to keep quiet.
“I didn’t give you the floor, the way you’re behaving is unacceptable. There can’t be anarchy here.”
Then, she calls to order with an entry in the minutes because
“you continue to interrupt the floor and disrupt the session. You are of rare insolence and now that’s enough.”
Thomas Cottinet then accuses the councilor of making
“staged. Asking the police to intervene just because the person stood up and spoke is staged.”
“Listen, the municipal council is suspended,” says Florence Portelli.
The session resumes ten minutes later. The same evening, each camp issued its press release to denounce the attitude of the other party.
