intriguing – A mysterious site offers 5 euros to all Internet users able to provide a secret code, which suggests a vast communication campaign
If you live in Paris, Berlin or Amsterdam, you may have already seen strange sheets of paper on which is written “What happens at 1,000,000,000?” » and where there is a QR Code. As Numerama reports, the link goes to a site, which asks you for a secret code.
According to several tests, the latter appears briefly when loading the page, and changes every two hours. Those who manage to enter the winning combination are invited to enter their email address. If this is associated with a PayPal account, they will then receive a transfer of 5 euros. Of course, it is only possible to get this money once, even with a different code.
A communications campaign?
What are the motives behind this astonishing donation? On Reddit, several users believe that it could actually be a large communication campaign. Registered in the United Kingdom on November 5, 2024, the site is only accessible within the European Union and is said to be managed by someone working at a marketing company. The latter has already provided its services to several large companies, including the German online bank Trade Republic.
