LEGISLATIVE 2024. The candidates and the issues in the four constituencies of Dordogne

The inhabitants of Dordogne will go to the polls on June 30 and July 7. In the department, divided into four constituencies, only one had elected a National Rally deputy in 2022. This year, all the outgoing deputies returned to the campaign. Find the lists of candidates and the issues in each constituency.

What will be the colors of the Dordogne on July 7? Made up of four constituencies, the department had already marked its plurality with two Nupes deputies, Pascale Martin and Sébastien Peytavie, an Ensemble pour la République deputy, Jean-Pierre Cubertafon and a National Rally deputy, Serge Muller, during the 2022 legislative elections.
A tradition that continues with each mandate: the department has oscillated several times between left and right parties, without ever electing, until 2022, a candidate from the extremes. In the first round, moreover, the department had placed Marine Le Pen’s party in the lead.

However, during the last European elections, the Périgourdins brought the list of Jordan Bardella to first place, with 34.74% of the votes, far ahead of that of Raphaël Glucksmann, who only won 14.51% of the votes, or that of of the majority which displays a score of 12.75%.

The first constituency, maintaining the left

Outgoing MP: Pascale Martin (LFI -New Popular Front)
Formerly of the RATP, departmental president of the Femmes Solidaires association, MP Pascale Martin, from La France Insoumise, is putting her mandate back into play in this constituency, centered around Périgueux. She will face Clément Tono (Together for the Republic) and Nadine Lechon (RN).

In 2022, the one who comes from civil society won the vote against the outgoing deputy, Philippe Chassaing (Together for the Republic). A victory marked by a short lead: 1,300 votes more than his opponent and a score of 51.85% against 48.15%.

The second constituency, the confirmation of the National Rally

Outgoing MP: Serge Muller (RN)
He had been one of the department’s greatest hits. Serge Muller (RN), former nursing assistant in nursing homes, who began his political career in 2022, is putting his mandate back into play. In this Bergerac constituency, the outgoing deputy will face Christophe Cathus (New Popular Front), Michel Delpon, his former opponent (Ensemble pour la République) or Josie Bayle (Les Républicains).

In 2022, driven by a protest vote and a program centered around “immigration”, he won the second round almost neck and neck with Michel Delpon (Together for the Republic). He ultimately won with 50.44% of the votes, barely 300 votes ahead.

The third constituency, the last bastion of the presidential majority

Outgoing MP: Jean-Pierre Cubertafon (Modem – Together for the Republic)
It is the only constituency which has retained the colors of the presidential party, after a previous mandate almost unanimously won by Emmanuel Macron. Elected deputy for this third constituency in 2022, Modem Jean-Pierre Cubertafon is returning to the campaign this year. The former mayor of Lanouaille will face Florence Joubert (National Rally) or Christelle Druillole for the New Popular Front.

In 2022, the deputy for the Ribérac constituency since 2017, won the deputy seat, in a tight triangular against Cyril Girardeau (Nupes) and Florence Joubert (RN). He obtained 36.52% of the votes, two points behind the Nupes candidate, seven behind the National Rally candidate.
