  • A scent of return match
  • The largest and that of all contrasts

Three main microregions (Balagne, Central Corsica and Eastern Plain), an incomparable sea-mountain duality over which Monte Cintu reigns, the deepest rural just a few kilometers from a seaside resort or the Corten university center. Obviously, the largest constituency of Corsica is the land of the most striking contrasts.

Very sparsely populated with just over 60,000 inhabitants, this territory offers incomparable historical wealth, but also a demographic void which mainly affects its north-eastern slope (Castagniccia, Boziu) and its municipalities so small that the question of their existence in as long as such never ceases to arise.

It is also the land of all paradoxes to the extent that its territorial reality highlights indisputable assets. The presence of the two largest rivers on the island, a diverse agriculture shared between mountain breeding, the viticulture of Balagne and the Plaine where citrus farming focuses on products with high added value. Shared between Inrae and the University of Corsica, the scientific center is not left out either, to the point of offering reference work at the international level.

Also affected by the problem of the medical desert and the puzzle of waste management, the district also called Corte-Balagne nevertheless remains at the heart of the challenges of territorial planning and adaptation to changes. climate as part of a renewal of the tourist offer.
