If there is a vector of rapprochement, of surpassing oneself, it is sport. Even more so when the notion of mutual aid is added. Meeting with handiSport 52 during a nature day in Villegusien.

The picturesque setting of the banks of Lake Vingeanne, in Villegusien, has just served as the setting for a gathering which particularly delighted the participants, some of whom did not hesitate to cross the entire department. An initiative all the more laudable as it involved getting together for a day of physical and emotional sharing.

Indeed, set up by the departmental Handisport committee, it made it possible to form teams united in the same effort, with the same goal, as Magali Zed, treasurer of the Haut-Marne section, explains: “The goal is to form teams, of all generations, made up of one or two able-bodied volunteers and another with a disability, of course adapting accordingly”.

Sport for pleasure

Thus, for so-called land events, some travel by mountain bike, FTT (all-terrain wheelchair), joëlettes, or even by walking, particularly for orienteering. Even if there is no question of performance and even less of competition, everyone nevertheless puts all their heart, all their energy into it.

The pleasure of sharing. –

Setting off on a journey with a map as your only guide, a road map to point to… proves to be an exciting experience for many. A circuit carefully designed and prepared by Caroline and Claire, the structure’s two paid facilitators. Especially since it was necessary to reconcile the so-called physical parts with those requiring skill, such as the blowgun, laser shooting, etc.

A day also marked by conviviality, especially during the meal bringing everyone together, their eyes fixed on the beach. Coming individually, with friends or family, the same desire to share and exchange.

However, there was no time to dawdle too much because in the afternoon other, more lake-based events awaited the participants.

Discovery days

Organized once a year, rotating across the department, this day also aims to present, give demonstrations and try equipment specially adapted to each type of disability. This, among other things, is thanks to the support of all the partners helping Handisport Haute-Marne financially or materially. This aid also allows the association to carry out winter or summer stays, like the one planned this month in Brittany.

Nature courses

These are just a few examples, because the structure also offers courses in paragliding, sailing, trails, aquagym, swimming, tandem, kayaking, walking, boccia… all while adapting well obviously the disciplines according to handicaps.

Days, such as those in Villegusien, also aim to highlight Handisport Haute-Marne and to show that people with disabilities, or able-bodied people wishing to give a little of their time, are always welcome. Especially since conviviality is always essential!
