Healthy and sustainable food at Saint-Exupéry high school – Le Petit Journal

As part of a “healthy and sustainable diet” the Saint-Exupéry high school in Parentis-en-Born will offer a discovery of local products to its students on Thursday, November 14 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the presence of Sophie Weber, regional advisor for New Aquitaine and elected Landes Nature Côte d'Argent territory. This day will honor local farmers from whom the Parentis-en-Born school campus has been supplied for almost a year. Gasconie is a group of local farmers. She organizes a discovery market around their products, including fruits such as yellow and green kiwis, organic pears and apples. Students will be able to taste fresh fruit juices made by a juice extractor installed for the occasion. Concerning the menu of the day, local seasonal vegetables and local products will also be highlighted, with dishes such as butternut soup, flat cabbage, cucumbers and tomatoes (Parentissoise production), then dessert. , an apple crumble sample. In high schools in New Aquitaine, concrete measures and actions are carried out to eat well in close collaboration with ACENA, a regional association which has been working since its creation in 2017: Markets adapted to local and/or organic offerings, relocation of supply, and fair remuneration for producers. The Region and ACENA have signed an agreement and have decided to go a little further in these objectives: achieving 60% local, quality products including 30% organic in high schools by 2025. High schools in New Aquitaine have reached 40% local products and 21% organic products in 2023, these figures evolve positively each year states the press release.
