Laroquebrou. The US Cère et Landes is paving its way. Opening the session of this general assembly of the Cère et Landes Sports Union which was held this year, due to turnover, in Laroquebrou, President Emmanuel Lajarrige spoke of a “great season”. Indeed, the flag group secured an honorable second place in its D3 group thanks to a “strong second half of the season” and also reached the quarter-finals of the Combourieu Cup.

Two departures

As for the reserve, it finished with some regrets, notably in the Barrès Cup and with a fourth place in the championship after having occupied second for a long time, crumbling at the end, “deprived of many of its players made available to the headlines”, as their coach Jean-Pierre Delfau pointed out.

Mireille Vantal’s football school, with its 125 licensed children and its fifteen educators, also performs well in the various championships. But the highlight of this general assembly remains the announcement of the withdrawal of its emblematic coach, Julien Delfau. “After eight years, it is time for a change,” he was content to justify while ensuring that he remained an active member of the club. A beautiful tribute with loud applause was paid to him for his dedication, his diligence and the quality of his work. Mireille Vantal, head of the football school, is following the same path. Both should know their successors in the coming days.

The rise to D2 as an ambition

The budget, presented by treasurer Christine Delbos, varies among seniors between €35 and €40,000 and does not present any particular problems, the main providers of foreign currency being the annual quine, sponsors and municipal subsidies from the supporting municipalities: Saint-Paul -des-Landes, Laroquebrou and Lacapelle-Viescamp whose elected officials present confirmed their continuity.

For the coming season, the new coach will have to try to mobilize the players to make the rise to D2 the major ambition.
