In Ancerville, on the border with Saint-Dizier, the La Meusienne factory is on the brink of collapse. A SCOP project could break the deadlock for the employees of this manufacturer of stainless steel tubes.

We cannot say that morale is high among the employees of Meusienne. This factory located on the Meuse/Haute-Marne border, in the suburb of Güe adjoining the Marnaval district, is going through an unprecedented crisis. Placed in receivership in March, it has already come close to liquidation. The Bar-le-Duc commercial court granted an additional deadline last month and, today, the prospects of pure and simple liquidation are becoming a little more distant for the 90 employees of the factory. In fact, a SCOP (cooperative production company) project made it possible to once again push back the deadline until June 27.

“I’m not worried about myself but about others”

“It’s off to a good start, there is only this solution or liquidation”, sighs Christophe Collin, the FO staff representative. La Meusienne is a century-old factory which at the beginning of the 20th centurye century made sewing machines. The deindustrialization of the country having happened there, from the 80s and 90s it was tossed from buyer to buyer. From Arcelor-Mittal to Aperam to German groups and investment funds (Balcke-Dürr, Mutares and LiCap GmbH). Its production is solely dedicated to welded stainless steel tubes for the transfer of fluids, exchangers, chemical and pressure devices, food, beverages and sugar.
