Will Emmanuel from Belgium become a professional footballer?

The Prince Emmanuel of Belgiumthird of four children King Philip and the reine Mathildefollows football training in Spain. More precisely in Zaragoza, where photos published by a Dutch newspaper show him training with his classmates.

The Belgian royal family had already announced this summer that the 19-year-old young man would study languages and sport during the 2024/2025 academic year, without however specifying the type of studies that the prince would follow, nor the the place where they were going to take place. It is therefore possible that Emmanuel from Belgium intends to pursue this goal and join a Spanish or foreign football club, as many students of the sports school in which they are enrolled do.

In this case, Prince Emmanuel would indeed be the first royal footballer, a world which, in recent years, has already produced models, influencers, actors and other types of sportsmen. Earlier this year, Emmanuel of Belgium accompanied his father, King Philip I, on a visit to the Belgian national football team’s base camp ahead of the European Championships. But until now, there was no indication that he was a big football fan. His biography on the Belgian royal family website specifies that he practices skiing, tennis, athletics and windsurfing, but not football in particular. Last year, the prince completed his studies at the International School of Brussels and is “currently taking language and sports courses at a foreign academy”, his profile also states. The Zaragoza Sports School track strongly suggests that the foreign language in question studied by the prince is therefore Spanish.
