He regrets his words, but not the depth of his thoughts. On Wednesday at the Federal Palace, a violent altercation took place between federal police officers and two UDC elected officials, Thomas Aeschi from Zug and Michael Graber from Valais. The latter then compared the agents to Nazis, saying that they “would have been the first to carry out Hitler’s orders.” He apologizes to them for this comparison.

“It was an overreaction, I regret this statement in the heat of the moment. I am sorry and I apologize to the police,” Michael Graber told “Blick”.

Honorable fine, therefore, but Haut-Valaisan persists in thinking that there was a problem on the part of the police. On Wednesday, the exceptional security system inside the Federal Palace was linked to the visit of the President of the Ukrainian Parliament. However, the UDC still finds it abnormal that the federal police officers did not differentiate between “democratically elected parliamentarians and people who could represent a danger”.

The debate, in any case, is far from being closed, including at the highest level of power, reports RTS. While Thomas Aeschi was accused of provoking the clash, he was defended by “his” federal councilor, the SVP Albert Rösti. But his socialist colleague Beat Jans said the parliamentarians should simply have stuck to the police’s instructions.
