Legislative elections in Lot-et-Garonne: the Republicans ignore two of the three constituencies

the essential
The boss of LR47 points to “an irresponsible political class prone to small corner table arrangements”.

In a not ordinary press release, the pen dipping on one side in the pot of bitterness and on the other in the inkwell of humor, the boss of the Republicans of Lot-et-Garonne announced this Friday, June 14 that his party will only be represented in the early legislative elections in only one of the three constituencies. Only the mayor of Villeneuve-sur-Lot Guillaume Lepers will appear in the 3rd, and will have his work cut out against Xavier Czapla (New Popular Front), the outgoing MP Annick Cousin (RN) and Jérôme Cahuzac (various left).

Elsewhere in Lot-et-Garonne, no LR! A badly damaged party, explains Gaétan Malange, departmental president, in a press release: “Regarding Eric Ciotti’s decisions, I can only condemn the solitary and personal maneuver. He behaved like a shopkeeper and not a leader. I condemns just as much the behavior of many feathered hats who for 72 hours have been giving election lessons when they had either left the party with loss and resounding, or else ruined LR with a presidential campaign which plunged us into the meanders of nothingness.”

In the Agen-Nérac constituency, the LR leaves the field open to the RN (Sébastien Delbosq), to the outgoing Renaissance deputy Michel Lauzzana and to the NFP (Paul Vo Van). “Louis de Cacqueray, contacted at the start of the week with Clémence Brandolin -Robert is finally not leaving anymore, specifies Gaétan Malange […] Let one thing be clear: we are not responding to any injunction from Jean Dionis. The Titanic France is sinking, the violins are picking up speed, we have no lessons to receive from those who have placed icebergs everywhere.”

What a novel…

On Marmande (3rd constituency), another Bérézina for LR: “We contacted many people, elected officials and well-known supporters: all of them declined for various reasons. Personally, I chose not to get involved because I have other medium-term projects and ambitions. Let one thing be clear: candidates with very serious profiles have declined and this is in no way a corridor agreement with the RN like some minds. twisted people were able to distill it.” Here will be in the running: Christophe Courrègelongue (NFP), the outgoing RN deputy (Hélène Laporte) and Jean-Marie Lenzi (Renaissance)

In constituencies 47-1 and 47-2 no voting instructions will be given, we can however imagine the transfer of votes to Renaissance or the RN… As for the rest, “there is a History to be written, with a capital letter illuminated by our ideas”, phosphorus (without laughing) Gaétan Malange. “No fatality like Emma Bovary, no wait-and-see like Drogo in the Desert of the Tartars. On the contrary, the next events will prove us right. So, let’s keep our swords drawn and let us keep within ourselves the loyalty of d’Artagnan and the panache of Cyrana!” What a novel these elections are…
