Jérôme Filippini, prefect of Réunion, is the victim of identity theft on social networks. This Friday, the prefecture reported several fake accounts and false profiles, notably on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X.
“Only the @Prefet974 accounts on the social networks Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn,specifies the prefecture in a press release published this Friday.
On several occasions, reports have been made to the platforms concerned. Despite this, false accounts and false profiles in the name of the prefect continue to circulate, informs the prefecture.
A complaint has already been filed against these identity thefts. Some of these fake accounts share official publications to appear more realistic and claim to speak on behalf of the prefect. They even send invitations and can communicate via network messaging.
“False information is conveyed, as was the case recently when giving voting instructions, or seeks to extract personal information from yourecalls the prefecture. You will never be asked for your personal information via a social network, even through private messaging.”
