Mr. El Moustir did not have any real explanations behind this decision, he mentioned in a message sent to TVA News. This is why he chose to appeal.
“Faced with the absence of reasons or proof accompanying the decision of the Electoral Committee and faced with the conformity of my candidacy file validated by the Election President of Ensemble Montréal, I wanted to appeal the decision to of the Steering Committee,” he underlined.
The one who claims to have gone to this party to bring together Montrealers declared to have made this choice “despite the immense debt of the party and the shadow of Denis Coderre”.
The Moroccan-born entrepreneur also defended his candidacy, saying that the “strong majority” of party members and elected officials encouraged him.
“I understand today that there is a minority clique that is engaged in political obstruction,” he denounced.
Ensemble Montréal did not respond to requests for TVA News at the time of writing these lines.
