Notice to fans of eco-responsible travel and nighttime train escapades: the legendary Nightjet Paris-Vienna, operated by the ÖBB (Austrian railways) in partnership with the SNCF, is preparing to resume service. After being put on hold last summer due to railway works in France and violent bad weather in Austria in September, this highly anticipated night train will make its comeback from November 12, 2024 between Strasbourg and the Austrian capital, Vienna.
A gradual restart
For this recovery, the service will restart with two weekly round trips. You will have to wait until December 14 to find a frequency of three round trips per weekgiving travelers the possibility of reaching Vienna in one night while enjoying the comfort of the Nightjet's berths.
But that's not all: the Nightjet also has a surprise in store for its passengers. Part of the train will detach halfway to serve Berlinthus offering a dual destination for fans of night trips.
A practical and eco-friendly adventure
For the inhabitants of Eastern France, this line is a blessing. It allows you to leave Paris, make a practical stopover at Strasbourg and wake up the next day in the enchanting setting of the Austrian capital, Vienna, or head towards Berlin. All without going through the plane box and its hassles. A way to travel more slowly but in style, enjoying the changing landscapes from your berth.
With this return, the spirit of night travel comes back to life, and the idea of falling asleep in France to wake up in a new European capital has never been so attractive.
