Travelers on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Rail traffic was particularly disrupted, between Sunday November 24 and Monday November 25, between Normandy and the Paris region.and in particular on the Caen – Evreux – Paris line. Train 3348 suffered most of the problems that marred this evening, at the end of a weekend marked by the passage of the storm “Bert”. “SNCF Reseau regrets the situation experienced by customers between Caen and Paris” can we read on the manager's account
Power supply failure and collision with an animal
Initially, the train found itself stopped in the middle of the track around 8:45 p.m. in Romilly-la-Puthenaye, for a power supply fault linked to a tree falling on an overhead line. It took officers three hours to restore the situation. But a few minutes after leaving, new immobilization at La Bonneville-sur-Iton. The cause this time: a collision with an animal. The firefighters even had to intervene when an electrical fire started under a wagon, and to take care of a four-year-old child, who had fallen ill, and his mother.
7 hours late
This intervention required the interruption of traffic on the entire line and impacted other trains. Travelers thus found themselves stuck at Evreux and Lisieux stations, after their journeys were cancelled. And regarding the train “cursed”its occupants were transferred to another trainbetween 3 a.m. and 4 a.m., in order to reach Paris-Saint Lazare station, more than… seven hours late.
New disruption this Monday morning
But the return to normal was short-lived. A new power supply fault occurred this Monday, November 25, around 8 a.m.between Bueil and Beaumont-le-Roger. Interrupted in both directions, then only between Paris and Normandy, traffic finally resumed normally a little before 11 a.m.
