“I planted C4 explosives in your school. We are going to come and blow up your school of kouffars, decapitate your corpses of dirty infidels to the cries of Allah Akbar.“Around 9:30 a.m. this Friday morning, the private Catholic vocational high school Saint-Vincent-de-Paul, in Avignon, received an email containing threats.
As a precaution, the 500 to 600 students and staff who were in the premises on rue Chiron, in the inner city of Avignon, were evacuated and brought to safety in a high school gymnasium, chemin de l'île Piot. It took around ten minutes to evacuate the establishment.
A security perimeter has been set up around rue Grande-Fusterie. After careful verification by the police, no suspicious packages had been received, and no explosives were found in the establishment.
Students were expected to return to school by late morning.
This is a generic email, already sent to other educational establishments in the past. Last spring, several schools, including the private La Salle middle and high school, were targeted by such threats.
