Smoke bombs, trash cans and banners in front of the doors of the headquarters of the Grenoble metropolis this Friday morning. The collective “Touche pas à ma place” is mobilized to denounce the elimination of parking spaces on avenue Jeanne d’Arc but also in other districts of Grenoble. There are around fifty demonstrators on site.
They don't want the rehabilitation of Avenue Jeanne-d'Arc
“You come from Pont-de-Claix by car, with a parking space, why don’t you come by bike?” : this is what these members of the collective came to say to the president of the Metropolis Christophe Ferrari. Traders but also residents. For many weeks, they have been angry about the requalification of Avenue Jeanne-d'Arc in the Abbey district. The project plans to remove 70 to 80% of parking spaces and create a chronocycle.
The national police are present on site. On September 30, these residents, users and traders had already demonstrated in front of Grenoble town hall on the sidelines of a municipal council which had adopted this project. Work on Avenue Jeanne-d'Arc is due to begin at the start of 2025.
