It was because this motorist had just committed a traffic offense in the city center of Carcassonne on Tuesday afternoon that a police crew decided to intercept him for a check. But that was without taking into account the offender’s refusal to comply. He ultimately didn’t get far, and it was his brother’s name that he gave to the police who were carrying out the administrative checks. Once his true identity is found, it will quickly become apparent that the person concerned is subject to a judicial cancellation of his driving license.
With his car impounded, this 32-year-old from Carcassonne was taken directly to the police station, where he was placed in custody. There, during additional checks on the files, it was revealed that the thirty-year-old was the subject of an arrest warrant for the execution of a two-year prison sentence, in connection with break-ins. Placed in judicial detention in this context, the man was taken to the Carcassonne remand center to serve his sentence.
Four people injured in four-vehicle collision
Yesterday afternoon, at 2:21 p.m., emergency services were alerted, as a collision involving four vehicles had just occurred on the A61 motorway, near the Bram exit in the Toulouse – Narbonne direction. According to the communication made by the Aude Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (Sdis 11), nine people were involved in this accident on a motorway that was heavily used at the start of the weekend, or the holidays for some.
Quickly on site with an ambulance, a road rescue van and a nurse, the firefighters from the Bram rescue centre took care of four people slightly injured in the accident. They were evacuated to the Castelnaudary hospital for check-ups. During the rescue operations, the motorway had to be closed to traffic with an exit at Bram. Traffic was able to be restored at 3:45 p.m., after the necessary cleaning of the roadway and the removal of the damaged vehicles.
