Building on its success over the last 10 years, the festival The Medievals of Lanaudière is moving to a larger and more accessible site, which this year will host many new features that will delight festival-goers.

Located on the banks of the L’Assomption River, a stone’s throw from the charming historic town center of L’Assomption, Parc Léo-Jacques offers the festival an area doubled compared to the previous site and is now accessible by public transport and public transport. active. Without forgetting the park’s magnificent beach, which festival-goers can use to cool off during the July heat.

Les Médiévales de Lanaudière is a large-scale festival on the theme of History and its mythology, whose varied programming is suitable for all tastes and all ages. There historic area presents equestrian jousting, period camps and demonstrations of traditional know-how. THE cultural component features local and regional artists through musical performances, storytelling and a literary salon. The crafts market will introduce the public to around fifty artisans and small businesses. Not forgetting the traveling entertainment and the quests for children that take place throughout the weekend.

A program that makes the Médiévales de Lanaudière famous

The Return of the Unicorns – The Médiévales de Lanaudière allow you to meet real unicorns! You will be able to admire them during an equestrian freedom show, in the company of their trainers Charles Etienne Ménard (Cavalia) and Justine Dion. Between shows, it will be possible to touch them and take pictures of them.

NEW The evening at the Auberge du Roy: fun for everyone! – The popular Grand Banquet, the VIP evening of the festival, becomes this year the evening at the Auberge du Roy, an inclusive and just as festive formula! On Saturday July 13, between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., party with Muguet Fulgence (Francis Désilet), who promises you an evening full of laughter and saucy songs of medieval and New France inspiration.

International Equestrian Jousting Tournament

Knights from Montreal, Quebec and the United States will compete in a breathtaking tournament, transporting festival-goers to a world usually only seen in the movies.

But unlike in the movies, nothing is “arranged with the view guy.” The jousters are equipped with 3 meter spears long in hardwood and their armor, made of iron, weighs nearly 50 kg. The outcome of face-to-face encounters is not determined in advance; May the best win!

International guest champion
For the 2024 edition of the tournament, our invited international champion is Jeffrey Hedgecockwho will represent the United States. An armorer by trade, Hedgecock is one of the few reenactment armorers to joust wearing armor he designed himself. Since his jousting debut in 2003, he has jousted in England, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the United States and Canada.
