Tomorrow, at 6 p.m., Le Puy Foot (D3) will have the chance to host a lower level team during the 1st federal round of the Women's French Cup, at the Massot stadium. The Ponotes will be opposed to CS Blenod (R1), resident of Régional 1 in Meurthe-et-Moselle.
The Puy Foot women's team passed the regional rounds of the Coupe de France without any problems. During the first federal round, the Vellaves will be able to discover a whole new team. They will host CS Blenod, at the Massot stadium. This team from Meurthe-et-Moselle is at the bottom of the standings in its Regional 1 Grand Est group, with a record of two wins and six defeats.
Le Puy remains on two setbacks
The Ponotes will therefore be favorites when hosting a team playing at the lower level. But Axelle Vincent's partners are not in a very positive spiral when diving into the Cup. They remain on two consecutive losses in the championship. After being the first to lose against AS Monaco (2-0), they lost at home against Cannes (2-3) last Sunday. “These two defeats are difficult to digest,” confides the coach, Pierre-Yves Thomas. These are matches where we had a monopoly on the game and more chances than our opponents. » Unfortunately, the Altiligerians weighed themselves down, with blunders transformed into goals. The joy of the Puy Foot players against Saint-Julien-Chapteuil
“We pay cash for our little mistakes,” regrets the technician. Our two performances weren't so bad, but it's our team that gets into trouble alone with youthful mistakes. » Puy Foot is counting on the Coupe de France to turn the page on these two unfortunate episodes in D3. It must be recognized that before these disappointments, the results and content were rather interesting. “I think that in terms of the game we have found our feet,” underlines Pierre-Yves Thomas. We lack a little offensive success to achieve a positive result. »
“The problem is us”
The coach wasn't really able to dig up any information on his weekend opponent. But that wasn't his priority. “It’s good to watch the opposing individuals. But we are in a situation where the problem is us. So we need to reassure ourselves. » Amel Salah's partners obviously want to shine in the Cup, to relive the same emotions as last season, with a quarter-final against PSG. If they qualify this weekend, they could already be entitled to a big chunk in the next round. They would face the winner of the match between FC Metz (D2) and Molsheim (R1).
