Josée Thibeault won the Gwen Pharis Ringwood Award for Drama from the Writers’ Guild of Alberta on Saturday for her work The postman’s daughter. This is the first time that this prize, awarded to a play published the previous year by an Alberta author, has been awarded to a French-speaking work.

It’s good that we’re part of this community, that we’re not just in our little networksaid the author on the show The crossing.

Surprised and touched by her victory, Josée Thibeault is grateful. During the awards evening, she was able to meet other authors from Alberta. It warms my heart to be part of this pool.

The postman’s daughter does not have an official English translation. However, Josée Thibeault affirms that the Writers’ Guild of Alberta undertakes to have a French-speaking jury when works in French are presented.

[La guilde] promised us that there would be a French-speaking jury every two years. The books that were qualified this year were published in 2023. If there had not been a French-speaking jury, it would have been postponed to the following year.

Josée Thibeault, author

Very good news, according to Josée Thibeault, who is happy with the collaboration with the Writers’ Guild of Alberta.

The postman’s daughter is the first volume of a trilogy. I already have extracts that are ready, which will be part of this projectmentioned Josée Thibeault during the interview.

This will probably still speak to a lot of peoplethe author hopes, since the next book, centered on her grandmother, addresses themes such as mental health, women’s bodies and menopause.
