Legislative elections 2024: Jean-Philippe Dolor first candidate declared in Guyana

President Emmanuel Macron announced the dissolution of the National Assembly this Sunday June 9 and the holding of elections on June 30 and July 7. The first to declare himself a candidate in Guyana is Jean-Philippe Dolor who had already presented himself in the 2022 legislative election under the banner “Ensemble Guyane”. Today, it is a candidate without a label who is seeking the votes of voters.

How many candidates will there be in Guyana for these legislative elections which must be held in France on June 30 and July 7, there were 27 for the election of June 11 and 18, 2022. Jean-Philippe Dolor is the first to have made his announcement. He did not have to obtain the support of any party, because he is now without a label. He is running for the deputy for the third time. This Maripasoulien is not his first attempt, he was already a candidate in the legislative by-election of May 4 and 11, 2018, then in 2022.
This jurist specializing in public law wishes to put his skills at the service of the Guyanese. In 2022, he already affirmed “This candidacy is the fruit of a long maturation” and on this level, he confirms but independently of “Guiana Positive” the movement of reflection and political action founded by him in January 2022. Jean- Philippe Dolor registered in the second constituency of Guyana had collected 11.06% of the votes in the first round of voting.

Jean-Philippe Dolor will officially apply perhaps as early as June 12 and in any case, he will have to do so by the deadline for applications this Sunday, June 16.
In a special program from Guyana la 1time radio he declared on June 10:

“…I am announcing here, I will be a candidate in the legislative elections of July 29 and 6, 2024. The idea is not to beat anyone, it is to work for Guyana. Being a link between the local level, mayors, economic players and the central government…”

We will still have to wait to know the name of his replacement. In 2022, he had the former mayor of Iracoubo, Cornélie Sellali-Bois Blanc, at his side.

This Guyanese born in western Guyana in Maripasoula is now 38 years old. Father of three children and involved in the associative sector from a very young age, he currently serves as cabinet director at Cayenne town hall. He also held the position of general director of Apatou town hall.
Politically, he was a member of the Young Socialists of Guyana party, which he chaired in 2012.
If in 2022, in the event of victory, he planned to sit within the Republican group, which camp would he be ready to join today? Being without a label perhaps offers a more interesting opening in the current political context.
