Mastery of European languages has become an essential part of education. It is through exchanges between high schools that this learning can be done.

A first meeting took place last February with students from the Lot-et-Bastide high school. These young students, who are following the Esabac course (French/Italian baccalaureate), which takes place over 3 years, were impatiently awaiting their respective correspondents, who arrived in April for a period of two weeks.

And we can say it: Italians love our beautiful Lot and Garonne region. Upon their arrival from Ferrara in Italy, we were invited to meet these young Italians (and yes, only girls who came to France this year). A young Italian, Ludovica, then speaks, as spokesperson for her comrades, in perfect and very lilting French: “we love France. We love the way of life of our Lot-et-Garonnais correspondents. Here, at the Lot-et-Bastides high school, we like the cafeteria, the inter-course bell, etc. And the French food is very good.

Orlane, a student from Lot-et-Bastides, emphasizes: “We had the opportunity to go on numerous outings to introduce them to our region. We went to the Lascaux caves, to Walygator, to the Stelsia minigolf, we visited Pujols.

And… departure on May 11 of our French students for Italy. 15 days of total immersion in Italy, with classes in the morning and visits in the afternoon. It was the turn of our students from Lot-et-Bastides to have been able to appreciate typical Italian dishes and Italian ice creams. unanimity. On their return, we met them, also delighted with this exchange, not only linguistic but also cultural and human.

This year, 5 final year high school students will take their Franco-Italian baccalaureate. Ismène wants to study for a language degree, Élia wants to do a BTS in tourism, Marion will go to college, Ethan has already found a school to be a police officer and Reda will, for his part, do a life science degree. Very different higher education courses but for now, it is time for revision because they will soon be working on their copy, including, in particular, a 5-hour geo history test, in Italian. We wish them good luck.

Their geo history teacher, Mathilde Gonnet and Francesco Roméo, Italian teacher, are confident in these 4 diligent and motivated students.

“For the following years, we would like to obtain partnerships with other places such as Florence, Sicily, Tuscany,” explains Mathilde.
