POLITICS – Without him. Former minister and government spokesperson Olivier Véran announces that he will not appear in Isère, his department of election, for the partial legislative organized in a few weeks following the resignation of the LFI deputy for the constituency Hugo Prévost.

“I will not be a candidate in the partial legislative election which will be held in the 1st constituency of Isère”wrote the former minister on X, Tuesday, November 5 in the evening, explaining that he had thought “with a clear head, after twelve years of local and national mandates carried out at full speed”.

Saying that I don't have “never considered politics as a career”, Olivier Veran explains that he wants “ serve (one’s) country differently” and commit “differently”. “It is time for me to take a step back, beneficial, necessary”he continues, but “this is not goodbye”car “in politics, “never” means “not right away””.

Camille Gaillard-Minier against Lyes Louffok

The former Macronist deputy specifies that Camille Galliard-Minier, who replaced him when he himself was minister, “wants to run as a candidate and we will support her with all our strength”. The dates of this partial legislative are not yet known.

To replace Hugo Prevost in the National Assembly, suspected of sexual and gender-based violence, La insoumise has just invested the child rights activist Lyes Louffok.

If Marine Tondelier, the boss of the Ecologists, has already confirmed that her party would support the LFI candidate, within the framework of the agreement on the distribution of constituencies of the New Popular Front, the local PS has proposed another candidacy, that of the socialist departmental councilor Amandine Germain, more likely to win, according to them.
