At a press conference this Saturday in Nouakchott, Aliou Cissé came with one of his executives, Gana Gueye. The midfielder says he is optimistic for the next matches of the Senegal national team which will play Mauritania tomorrow.
Asked about the recent outings of the Lions in these qualifications for the 2026 World Cup resulting in a victory and two draws, Gana Gueye wanted to reassure public opinion. According to him, Senegal’s next matches will not be “déjà vu” for spectators.
“We don’t have any concerns. It’s true that with a team like Senegal, we have to win matches. It’s been two games that we’ve had draws. It’s good on the one hand, it will allow us to come back to earth. And to know that today in this continent, there is no small team, you have to give yourself even more. Maybe we are even more expected to win this next match. And for that, I have no doubt. Because we have a very good team, which is well managed, with young people. It’s true that a new generation is arriving, it takes time. I have no worries that the next matches will be better than what we have already seen.” said the experienced Lions den player.
As a reminder, Senegal, which occupies second place in group B, will play Mauritania tomorrow at 4 p.m. GMT.
