A cycle of conferences is organized by La Vigie – memorial of the deportees of Mayenne, in this month of November 2024. This is organized “on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Liberation and the year 1944”, specifies Élodie Roland, Vigie coordinator.
The theme of this cycle is “History and memories of the purge in France”. Purification designates, at the Liberation, the repression against people accused of having collaborated with the enemy.
Two proposed locations
Three conferences will be given by Marie-Claude Tourtelier, vice-president of the association and associate professor of history and geography. For each date, two different locations will be offered: the Mayenne departmental archives in Laval and La Vigie in Mayenne.
The first conference will take place on Wednesday November 6 on the theme Purification, purges: a plural social phenomenon, a complex temporality; the second is organized on Wednesday November 13 and is entitled Purifiers and purifiers: purification at the level of men and women; the last, Memories of the purge: the other Vichy syndrome?is scheduled for Wednesday, November 27.
