Indeed, a tragic scene took place on the evening of Friday, November 8, south of Toulouse. “A 16-year-old boy lost his life after being hit by a motorist. The latter fled but was quickly found by the gendarmes of the Carbonne brigade”.
It doubles when the scooter comes in the opposite direction
The tragedy took place on departmental road 4, near Eaunes, towards Ariège. Shortly before 8 p.m., a motorist was driving calmly, respecting the authorized speed on this section. Suddenly, he sees in his rearview mirror a vehicle approaching at high speed, following closely behind him and showing signs of impatience. The other driver ends up swerving to overtake at high speed. Unfortunately, at the same time, a scooter comes in the opposite direction. On the two-wheeler, a teenager, wearing a helmet, will be hit by the driver, who will accelerate and disappear. The witness, who had just been overtaken, immediately stopped to help and provide first aid. He immediately alerted the emergency services. The firefighters and SMUR quickly took over, but the young man was already in cardio-respiratory arrest. Despite all their efforts, this 16-year-old boy succumbed to his injuries.
The driver found at Fossat in Ariège
The driver quickly fled. Following this crime, the gendarmes of the Muret company launched a vast operation to find the fleeing driver. Around 2 a.m., his vehicle was located in the town of Fossat, in Ariège. A little further away, the police spotted the man, wandering on foot. According to the first elements collected, the accused was driving after having consumed cocaine. This substance was also partly seized from his vehicle.
This Saturday morning, the thirty-year-old was interviewed by investigators, his interrogation expected to continue until Sunday.
