The Torch Relay returns to Haute-Savoie this week with the 27th BCA.
The remembrance torch relay crosses Haute-Savoie this week. An event carried out by the soldiers of the 27th BCA in the run-up to the commemorations of November 11, 1918. This meeting is unique in France.
A symbolic journey from Chamonix to Annecy
With a departure from the tomb of the Unknown Soldier under the Arc de Triomphe in Paris this Tuesday, the Flame of Remembrance is preparing to cross Haute-Savoie. This is the fourth edition of this relay organized by the 27th battalion of alpine hunters of Haute-Savoie. A journey which this year links Chamonix to Annecy, until November 11. The goal of this initiative remains strong and symbolic: to honor the memory of the soldiers who fought for France.
Ceremonies to remember, step by step
Each stop of the flame will be marked by a ceremony dedicated to veterans. In Chamonix, in the Arve valley, and in the villages of Aravis, residents will be able to attend these moments of contemplation. Ceremonies which will continue until the arrival of the flame in Annecy, for a final tribute to the soldiers who fell for France on November 11 on the Place du Souvenir. A departmental ceremony, which should be attended by local authorities and representatives of the army. It will also be an opportunity for the inhabitants of Haute-Savoie to gather around this flame and to become aware of the importance of collective memory.
